Making mortals near immortal

Jamie was a high-energy kid with big dreams and even bigger expectations. While never a standout star, I was an average to slightly above-average athlete who simply loved the thrill of competition.

I discovered football at age 7. It didn’t take long to realize I didn’t enjoy getting hit—so I ran fast. Really fast. So fast that no one could catch me. Football quickly became my first love. I embraced the sport's intensity and the camaraderie of the team. I lettered all four years in high school—at three different schools—and even made a go at college ball, though that chapter didn’t quite unfold as I’d hoped.

Then came baseball. I was a menace in the outfield, chasing down fly balls with ease and causing chaos on the basepaths. I beat out bunt after bunt and stole second, third—even home—more times than I can count. I pitched too—decent fastball, nasty knuckler—but the game never fully matched my energy. Baseball just wasn’t my speed.

Soccer, however, was a different story. I fell in love with the beautiful game and channeled my competitive fire and speed into goals and assists. I played at a semi-professional level in South Florida and Southern California until life nudged me toward a new direction. Still, soccer remains a passion—I play whenever I get the chance.

Volleyball was the next natural step. It satisfied my craving for athleticism and competition as life evolved. I picked it up quickly and, to this day, I still love playing.
